Introduction
The Asian Pickleball Academy (APA) was founded in March 2022 by PickleballJeff, an experienced national and international Pro-pickleball educator and trainer. (IPTPA Level 2, IFP Level 2, IFP pickleball Clinicion and IEPP Teacher Trainer).
APA focuses on developing recreational pickleball in new communities, offering affordable personalized training sessions, structured development courses, and promoting pickleball tourism across Asia—all delivered by passionate national and international APA educators on-site for traveling players.
Our Mission
We offer affordable pickleball training programs and skill clinics to support inclusive recreational pickleball communities in Asia. The goal is to make pickleball more accessible and fun for everyone.
Proud Past, Purposeful Future
In April 2019, PickleballJeff (PbJ) reintroduced pickleball to Indonesia, sparking steady growth across the country. By 2022, 24 educators from Padang, East Kalimantan, and Bali had completed their certification, marking the birth of Indonesia’s first generation of trained pickleball teachers. That same year, Borneo Pickleball evolved into two separate entities: Asia Pickleball Academy (APA) and the Indonesian Pickleball Community (IndoPiCo).
To date, over 2,000 individuals have been introduced to the sport through PbJ’s clinics, taster sessions, and courses. With Asia’s geographic challenges in mind, APA is committed to offering accessible, affordable training programs to support the sport’s rapid regional growth.
As an independent body, APA partners with individuals eager to introduce pickleball in their communities. Backed by years of experience, we deliver a student-centred IEPP/APA curriculum and have already certified 30 Indonesian nationals as qualified pickleball educators.
Meet PickleballJeff (PbJ)
PickleballJeff (PbJ) is an experienced international pro-level educator with over eight years of teaching expertise and multiple medals in 4.0/4.5 50+ international tournaments.
A passionate advocate for the sport, he now focuses on delivering development courses, personalized sessions, and supporting emerging pickleball communities across Jakarta and Asia.
Combining his background in instruction and management training, PbJ developed a student-focused educator curriculum—based on the IEPP platform—designed to introduce the sport to new players and help beginners and intermediates progress to advanced levels.
What We Do
Our courses emphasize practical, hands-on training through on-court clinics and skill-building exercises, minimizing classroom time.
For course participants in Indonesia we have developed, bilingual learning materials to complement this experiential approach and to make courses more accessable for remote individuals, we are creating virtual modular learning opportunities, which form the foundation of our comprehensive curriculum.

We invite you to participate in our APA pickleball development courses, which are designed by PbJ for IEPP to support the growth and advancement of pickleball in your community.
International Pickleball Educator Crossover.
Join this crossover program as it's designed for international pickleball educators who plan to visit Asian countries to play or teach the sport. These educators aim to contribute their skills and knowledge to support the development of pickleball across Asia. It is important that the coaching content remains consistent to avoid confusion and the need for retraining.
Philipinnes Pickleball Federation

Since 2019, I have collaborated closely with the Philippine Pickleball Federation, most recently (august 2024) introducing pickleball at the Mariano Marcos State University in Ilocos Norte, working alongside Mike Johnson, the Federation's President.
